The Bismark Palm provides an imposing and powerful presence, growing up to 60 feet tall with a heavy trunk. Each of its 20 to 30 fronts are approximately 10 feet wide, thus making this palm both tall and wide. Originally from Madagascar, an island off of Africa, this moderately salt tolerant, high drought tolerant palm needs little care after it accepts transplant. There are no major pest or fertilizing problems but they do need attention after being moved and will need to be watered daily (without fail) for at least the first three weeks after transplanting. Thereafter it is good to have them watched for the first year or two as they adapt to the new soil and surroundings. Once this period is over they will remain trouble free.
